Professor Nusrat Husain (PI) received the academic researcher of the year award at a ceremony held in London for the Royal College of Psychiatrists awards to recognise his work on this project and the work leading to and since the project within the field of maternal depression and related areas. The award has been recognised in various press releases and has led to discussions for community and media related work to commence in 2017
Clinical Research Role Model of the year
Professor Nusrat Husain (CI) was nonimated by a team member for the NIHR North West Coast Research and Innovation Awards 2017 for the award of ‘Clinical Research Role Model of the Year’ award He was shortlisted and received the award at a ceremony in February 2017. The award recognised his work in addressing the mental health inequalities in the UK and his major talent is his insight as a research leader this is reflected by his translational work addressing areas of public health importance such as depression and self-harm which disproportionately affect low income British South Asian women. The award has led to numerous press releases about the award were published across newspapers within the North West Coast region and have led to organisations and professionals making contact for further detail on the study
Walport Clinical Senior Lecturer
Prof Husain received the first Walport Clinical Senior Lecturer award in psychiatry which was from November 2006 till the end of 2011. The award helped Prof Husain to establish myself as a leader in global mental health and cultural psychiatry
